At The Tape Company, we're striving to become better global citizens and stewards of our environment. With this in mind, a group of employees formed the "Go Green Team," a committee of The Tape Company employees dedicated to helping the environment and reducing waste at our corporate and satellite offices.

The Go Green Team was initiated by The Tape Company's PDM manager, Wendy Klausen. "I formed the Go Green Team to help the company get on the right path to recycling," said Klausen. "We are taking small steps to save energy, paper, and other resources."

In many ways, The Tape Company has always been conscious of our impact on the environment:

• The lights in our manager's offices are equipped with motion detectors, so lights turn off when the offices are not in use.
• In our corporate headquarters, the bathrooms have low flow toilets and sinks with motion detectors to save on water.
• We actively reuse file folders.

Our Latest Ideas

Since January, The Tape Company has already taken many baby steps toward becoming a greener company:

• postcards, flyers and brochures are printed on paper containing 10% or more recycled content
• Inter-office reports, which were previously printed on virgin paper, are now available via email or intranet.
• In our lunch room, paper plates have been replaced with "real" tableware.
• The company has started an educational campaign to discourage employees and managers from printing emails (unless absolutely necessary).
• The Tape Company has begun an in-house recycling program for plastics, glass, paper and aluminum.

Becoming good global citizens does not happen over night. Each step we take diminishes our impact on the environment and brings to light more changes we can make.
